KARAOKE, cowboys and carties combined to create a memorable gala in Catterline last weekend.
The three days of fun kicked off on Friday night with "Talent in the Tent", when revellers were treated to an evening of quizzes, karaoke and dancing.
Saturday was the main day of the gala, and organisers had stuck to a 'Wild West' theme.
Enterta
inment was provided by the Northern Roughriders, who delighted the crowds with their displays of gunslinging and bar room brawling, while the more enthusiastic members of the crowd were invited to try their luck on a mechanical rodeo bull, which had been sponsored by Petrotechnics.
The day was brought to an end with the spectacular Lucky Duck Chuck, which saw 500 plastic ducks fired from a medieval catapult, followed by hundreds of sweets.
On display at Saturday's gala were the 26 carties that on Sunday would take part in arguably the highlight of the entire weekend, the fourth Catterline Cartie Challenge. Prizes were awarded to 'The Knitting Club' for Best Decorated Cartie, and to 'The Rough Superior' for Best Engineered.
Some teams travelled over 400 miles from Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire to take part in Sunday's event, which saw carties hurtling from the Creel Inn to the pier at Catterline.
The course had been improved upon since last year, and the road had been resurfaced courtesy of WM Donald. A mixture of slalom sections and chicanes made for a challenging run for the drivers, who impressed spectators with their weird and wonderful cartie designs.
The winning Connons Shield for the Cartie Challenge was awarded to 'The Auld Alliance' with Robert Lindsay behind the wheel.
Money raised from the event, went to the Gala Fund, which is used to support projects that benefit the local community.
