RESIDENTS living to the south of Stonehaven are to be consulted next week about the proposed £200 million, 1,000-home development in the area.
A public meeting has been organised by the Catterline, Kinneff and Dunnottar community council, as the area falls within their boundaries.
The developers involved in the proposal, Stewart Milne Homes, Dunecht Estates and Bancon Developments, have a
greed to give a presentation detailing their plans.
If given the go-ahead, the 200-acre site, which covers both sides of the A92 Stonehaven to Inverbervie road, will develop over a period of twelve years. As well as the new houses, plans include a new supermarket, healthcare and education facilities, a new cemetery and business space to cope with the increase in population.
Land would also be set aside to create a coastal country park, and a visitor centre at Dunnottar Castle, while Stonehaven's former maritime radio station would also be fully renovated.
The plans were shown in detail at the St Leonard's hotel in Stonehaven in July, where they received a mixed public reaction from residents, with some people expressing concern for such a large development while others welcomed the idea of new facilities and amenities in the area.
Representatives for the developers said that as the plans are at draft stage, they would continue to welcome feedback from the community.
Secretary of the Catterline, Kinneff and Dunnottar community council, Stephen Hall, told the Leader: "As this is quite a significant proposal, the community council has decided to set aside a meeting specifically for this subject. The developers have kindly agreed to come and give a presentation, and it will be good to get members of the public to come along to get some more information about the whole thing."
The meeting will be held at 7.30pm on October 14 at Catterline School.
