THIS year's Feein' Market in Stonehaven's town square went down a storm, with organisers estimating that 2008 had the biggest turnout since the Stonehaven and District Lion's Club took over the event eight years ago.
Former Big Brother winner Cameron Stout kicked off the proceedings, and entertainment provided by a varied programme throughout the day ensured that there was a bit of something for everyone at this year's event.
Local pipe and drumming band the Tr
ybe made a welcome return to the market, with several other local musicians following suit. The Lindsey School of Dance wowed the crowds with their display of Scottish country dancing.
Lion's club member and Feein' Market organiser George Reid praised the people of the town for helping to make the event a success.
He said: "The crowd were really well behaved, and they helped us a lot by being so co-operative. I think the people doing the entertaining had a good time, and the people being entertained had a good time."
He added: "The line-up this year was just tremendous. All the entertainment went down really well. There was a good mix of semi-professional and amateur acts, as well as between more traditional acts like Trybe and the more modern pop and rock and I think that's what made it so successful. There was something for everybody."
Reports from stallholders suggest that a good amount of money was taken on the day, with several stalls actually selling out of their goods before the market was over.
The traditional layout was again extended this year to include the Farmer's Market, and crowds filled the square and surrounding streets for the entire day, sampling the produce and visiting the stalls. Several children's rides also went down well with the younger attendees.

THE Stonehaven Pipe Band entertains the crowd.
