A TALENTED teenage fiddler has picked up two prestigious awards in just one week.
Cameron Ross (14), from Stonehaven, took top honours in the Keith Festival junior fiddle section at the weekend, and last Monday he took first place in the Aberdeen and North East of Scotland Music Festival, where he picked up the sought after Murdoc
h Henderson trophy in the Scottish Violin Solo 16 and under section.
The trophies go alongside the Buchan Heritage trophy in the junior fiddle class, which he won in March.
Cameron, who is a member of the Mackie Academy Ceilidh Band, has also participated in the first pilot Scottish Traditional Music Graded Exams set by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He obtained Grade 5 – the highest level currently available.
The teenager, who is also a keen rugby player and a member of Stonehaven Sea Cadets, is now busy preparing for the town's annual folk festival.
He is working on his set for the Acoustic Youth Stage, which will act as a showcase for young musicians.
The event will be held on Sunday July 13 from 2pm to 4pm at the beach pavilion. Any acoustic performer, aged 12 to 18 who is interested in taking part in the showcase, can contact Sue Briggs on 01569 740626 to book a slot.
