PORTLETHEN'S cycling reverend is to get on her bike once again for charity.
This summer Rev Dr Flora Munro will pedal the 300 miles from London to Paris to raise funds for Christian Aid.
The four-day ride will take place from July 23-27 and feature around 60 participants.
Dr Munro is relishing the opportunity to challeng
e her fitness and mental strength, while concluding her journey in such a beautiful city at a poignant time.
She said: "We are going to come down the Champs-Élysées a day before the Tour de France finishes in the same place, so Paris should be packed. I have never been to Paris on a bike before, just by bus, so it should be quite an experience."
Having cycled from Israel to the Gulf of Aqaba while helping raise £250,000 for charity, Dr Munro is no stranger to lengthy bike rides.
She has also completed the famous 1,133 mile trip from Land's End to John O'Groats, which took her a total of 15 gruelling days.
But then the reverend admits cycling is her favourite hobby and she aims to ride between 40 and 80 miles per week, typically through the beautiful glens of Scotland.
Dr Munro, who has worked at Portlethen Parish Church for four years, is also chaplain to the three schools in the town.
Numerous pupils have sponsored her to the sum of £1 and Dr Munro is now continuing her fundraising efforts for her chosen charity.
Christian Aid is an international non-governmental organisation which over the last 60 years has sought to try and reduce poverty around the world.
If you wish to sponsor Dr Munro, please send all donations to Portlethen Parish Church, Portlethen, AB12 4QP.
