THIS week saw the start of Asda Portlethen's 12th annual Tickled Pink campaign for breast cancer.
For the next two weeks, visitors to the store will be able to purchase an array of products from the Tickled Pink range, including t-shirts, bags and badges, which will all help to raise funds and awareness for a disease that affects thousands if peo
ple in the UK every year.
Asda Portlethen's events co-ordinator Geri Paterson, said: "This is an event that Asda holds every year and it's really a worthwhile cause. We've had a couple of colleagues here who have been diagnosed with cancer in the last year, but thankfully they are in recovery now. Last year Asda managed to raise £1.4million, and we're going for a target of £2 million this year."
Geri will be taking a hands-on approach to the fundraising efforts, spending her Saturdays doing face-painting at the store from 10am until 5pm, and the promotion runs until October 5.
Also on offer as part of the campaign is a raffle with a pink combi TV/DVD as first prize.
Cash raised will be used to help fund Breast Cancer Care's national freephone helpline, which offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.
Geri added: "We really appreciate all the support our customers give us each year during this campaign."
