Boroughmuir Ladies 1 Stonehaven Ladies 4
The weather in Edinburgh was miserable it rained through the entire match but the conditions did not effect the Ladies as they started strongly putting their hosts under pressure with some delightful football.
Stoney wasted some chances before Middleton gave them the lead making room for herself to fire home a left foot shot. At this point Stoney were in complete control and the second came from a corner which Aitkin swung in for Shanks to superbly head ho
me. Stoney, who were enjoying themselves in the wet, added a third from Middleton.
The second half continued with Stoney in control but without the same urgency as the first half.
The referee seemed to feel sorry for the hosts when a Boroughmuir forward went down in the Stoney box he blew for a penalty which surprised everyone.
Goalkeeper Simpson made a gallant effort to save it but it squirmed under her. The soft decision made no difference and Stoney regained their three goal lead when Heron collected the ball just outside the penalty box drew the Boroughmuir keeper out and cooly slipped the ball past her.
Team: Simpson, Henderson, Shanks, Gilbert, Alexander, Stout, Heron, Hammond, Aitken, Annand and Middleton
Subs Garden, Croma,r and Muirison
The draw for the next round was not kind to Stoney for they have to travel away again this time to Dumfermline.
