Thistle started the proceedings after Cults won the toss and decided to bowl. Thistle started well with A. Keith and A. Milroy pushing the score on to 33 of 6 overs but with the bowlers starting to find there rhythm Milroy was unlucky to play on scor
ing 13.
A Hinchliffe was in next and didn't mess around scoring two sixes in quick succession but was soon bowled by Rahul for 16 having a mighty swing and miss.
This brought D. Garden to the crease. He hadn't had a chance to find his form until now but showed patience and some good stroke play supporting Keith in pushing the score along to 87 when Keith, on 44, was bowled by Shrenath.
J. Van der Ruit came to the crease and didn't hold back, scoring 16 in his first over, eventually making 30 before being bowled by a clever delivery from Shiraz. M.Jenkins was next in but only lasted three balls from Shiraz who eventually got 5 for 27.
A. Wilson and D.Garden pushed the score up to 160 before both being bowled by Manohoa in consecutive overs.
The rest of the tail were dismissed cheaply apart from C.hinchcliffe playing a solid role scoring 16 not out pushing the final score onto 177 all out after 43 overs.
A.Keith top scored on 44, J. Van der Ruit got 30 and Dennis Garden was next on 24.
After tea C.Hinchcliffe took a double wicket maiden making the score 4 for 2 off 4. The very next over J.Van der Ruit took the remaining opener with a plum lbw leaving Cults 2nds in real trouble.
C. Hinchcliffe then took another wicket five over later as Cults crawled to18 for 5.
P.Gill showed some defiance as more wickets tumbled until he was joined by Debo who helped push Cults on to 52 until Gill, after a solid innings, was tempted by a teaser from A.Wilson and was bowled for 20. Debo soon followed for 20 after a controversial run out. Cults were finally all out for 75 off 32 overs.
C.Hinchcliffe was the pick of the bowlers and finished on 5 for 15. J. Van der Ruit, C. Van der Ruit, A. Keith and A. Wilson all supported taking a wicket each.
Thistle maintain their third spot in the League just behind the two big teams and face the toughest test next week away at the Links to top of the league Culter Curry Bon Accord. Match ball was sponsored by the Marine Hotel.
